Charlie’s Journey from Animal Care to Hospitality
Watch the video below to hear from Charlie, a Vocational Skills and Animal Care student at Moulton College. Charlie talks about gaining confidence through hands-on learning and international work experience — and how it’s inspired his next steps.
Charlie Ashberry joined Moulton College in 2024, enrolling on the Vocational Skills and Animal Care course. He was drawn to Moulton by the wide variety of animals on campus, as well as the opportunity to learn new skills in a supportive environment.
“What I enjoy about my course is socialising with my friends and doing work experience and travel training,” Charlie explains. One of his proudest moments was travelling to Seville for a work experience placement, where he worked in a café. The experience helped him gain independence and grow in confidence — both personally and professionally.
Charlie’s passion for learning has led him to take his next step into Level 1 Hospitality and Catering. He’s excited to improve his kitchen and customer service skills and build a career in the hospitality industry.
"Going to Seville really helped me improve my independence and my confidence.”
