Harvey Sansome studied at Moulton College between 1988 and 1992, progressing from the Youth Training Scheme (YTS) to a National Certificate in Agriculture before completing the National Diploma in Agriculture.
Today, Harvey is Group Technical, Quality & Sustainability Director at Global Pacific Food Group, a Northamptonshire-based importer of grapes, citrus and blueberries supplying Aldi. In his role, he leads technical, quality and sustainability teams across multiple countries and helps shape business strategy as a member of the Group Operating Board.
After leaving Moulton, Harvey achieved a degree in Agriculture, graduating from Harper Adams University in 1995. His career has since taken him around the world, working in technical, quality and leadership roles across the fresh produce sector with organisations including Tesco, Angus Soft Fruits, Fresh Direct and Global Pacific Food Group.
Having not had a great time at secondary school, attending Moulton was a real turning point for me. I made friends for life during my time at college, and a group of us still meet up regularly today. We all look back on our time at Moulton with great memories.
Harvey says the opportunities and support he received at Moulton helped him believe in what he could achieve.
When I reflect on my journey, what stands out most is that it began with a young lad who left school with very few qualifications and simply wanted to work in farming. Moulton College gave me far more than a qualification. It gave me direction, confidence and the belief that my future could be bigger than I had imagined.
Harvey hopes his story will inspire current students to embrace opportunities and remain open to where their careers may lead.
If there is one message I would share with today's students, it is this: your starting point does not determine your destination. Hard work, resilience, curiosity and a willingness to embrace opportunities can take you further than you ever think possible. Moulton opened the first door for me. The rest of my career has been about having the confidence to walk through the next one.
