As a talented or aspiring basketballer, you have the chance to study, train and play in an environment that’s as close as it gets to a professional club. Moulton has an outstanding track record of developing players as well as preparing them for a career beyond their sport. There is the expectation of players to attend all training sessions in academy training kit, further enhancing the experience of a professional experience and benchmark.

Our academy is built upon three core principles (as chosen by the players themselves); Commitment, Determination and Respect.

We’ll help you balance your studies and your basketball commitments. You’ll benefit from our extensive links with professional and national league clubs such as Northampton Titians. Our links with the national and local county (Northamptonshire Basketball Association) will provide opportunities to obtain nationally recognised coaching and/ or officiating qualifications, gain invaluable work experience and build links for your future career.

You’ll learn from some of the best coaches at Moulton College. We will support you to achieve excellence in your academic studies and your basketball. All coaches you will encounter hold a minimum L2 Basketball Coaching Qualification and years of experience within elite academies and international teams. With both academic and practical experiences, our coaches will seek to develop every part of your game in accordance with the Basketball England and British Basketball Federation guidance. Strong defense and effective decision making brings success to the team. This is the ethos we as an academy strive towards.

Your timetable is designed to allow you to get the best from your qualification and your training. As well as weekly sessions from dedicated coaches, you will have opportunities to compete at a high level of college sport. The Academy Basketball League which sits above the Association of Colleges Sport (AoC) leagues, are your chance to compete against some of the UK’s top teams, with players also having the chance to compete on a national scale in both regional AoC basketball tournament and potentially the AoC National Championships.

Basketball at Moulton College reflects the professional standard evident within our fantastic facilities. Currently used by Northamptonshire Titians Men’s to age group teams, who train and compete at Moulton College. You will have the chance to improve all aspects of your game on-site with access to our highly maintained sports hall, Strength and Conditioning Gym as well as cross training at the colleges wonderful facilities including a full functional athletics track. Each week academy players have a timetabled performance analysis session, this ranges from individual feedback, self-reflection, opposition scouting and review of team performances. Statistics from games are also used to show growth and development, not just of the individual, but of the team also.

You’ll also benefit from access to our performance services. Strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, sports massage students through to lifestyle management and performance analysis will keep you performing at your peak. With a current UKAD Educator available to support players with any antidoping/ medication concerns also. At Moulton, the academy is player centric. Players can voice opinions and share practices seen and experienced from outside the college environment. All this coupled with ability to live on campus in the colleges Halls of Residence.

In order for you to be selected into the Basketball Academy, you must first have applied or have been accepted onto a course at Moulton College. Then you will be expected to attend one of our trial days which are usually scheduled in the May Half-term and/or in one of the summer months.

If you are successful in receiving an offer for the Basketball Academy you will need to pay a £140 kit fee. This will provide you with a range of clothing which you will need to wear to all training sessions and match days. All Basketball Academy students must purchase their training kit prior to starting college. All other aspects of the Basketball academy, including transport and competition fees are paid for by the college.
